Overview
New Report Examines the Optical Switching Market Since Sept. 11th
Information Gatekeepers is proud to announce the availability of a new report "Switching the Lightwave 2001 Update." This is a completely new study based on one of our most popular reports, "Switching the Lightwave." This report covers every aspect of optical switches (OXCs), both optical-electrical-optical (OEO) and all optical (OO). It is 33% bigger and has many more figures than its predecessor, which was published one year ago. Included are all of the extensive changes that have taken place in the OXC market, technologies, and vendor profiles, since last year.
The Market Forecast section provides extensive forecasts considering not only on the economic downturn, but also the September 11 attack impacts. These forecasts now offer even greater granularity by providing unit and market forecasts with segmentations by OEO vs. OO, large switch vs. small switch and by application.
The reader is provided with a complete discussion of all of the underlying technologies with new topics such as optical-millimeter wave-optical and 1-D technologies added, with a clear description of the advantages and disadvantages of each. The material also provides a balanced discussion of the pros and cons of OEO vs. OO.
The vendors section has been completely re-written, with a much more extensive description of each of the products in this category as well as the addition of new vendors and the deletion of those no longer competing. This section also provides easily scanned tables for comparison of vendors and products.
This graph shows the slowness that is being forecast for a market uptake with OO switches, and illustrates the longer term market.
